Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about what it really means to take up space. Not just in a room, or on a stage, but in our decisions, our rest, our boundaries—our lives.

On this week’s episode of WAIT. HOLD UP… WHAT?, I sat down with Alyson Spungin for a conversation that touched on so many of these layers. We talked about health, but not in the usual way. Not through the lens of size or performance—but through presence. Through choice. Through personal power.

Alyson shared how she’s working on having just one day where she celebrates her wins without sharing them online. No social media, no need to prove anything. Just being. That, to me, is what taking up space can look like. Quiet. Intentional. Real.

She also talked about encouraging others to take up space in their own ways—whether it’s through movement, changing direction, or choosing boundaries that support their well-being. And we both acknowledged how hard these choices can be—especially for women. Vulnerability is part of this. So is permission.

Taking up space looks different for everyone. But at its core, it’s about knowing you belong—just as you are.
